The Problem
Today’s heavy-duty computer users demand more and more power to meet their computing needs. But an industrial strength computer usually comes wrapped in a chassis that’s impractical for space-limited work environments. And access to it, which should be a cinch for the sake of the user, is often a frustrating experience that involves lost chrome screws.

The Challenge
Hewlett Packard came to Fong Kai (FKI) Industrial and Inergi engineers, to improve the work environment of their customers by designing a compact computer case that took up minimal desk space, provided simple access, and made maintenance easy.
The Solution
Conquering chassis size issues required the type of creative problem solving that comes natural to Inergi engineers. By maximizing the available space with innovative design, Inergi produced a new, efficient enclosure that required considerably less space, making it a better fit in the user’s workspace.
Finding tools and removing screws to open the chassis has long been a frustration for users − along with the issue of removing components. So the innovative solution Inergi created has a tool-free, screw-less hinged access door with pop-out components to make maintenance a breeze, instead of a chore.
The Result
The award-winning chassis design that earned Inergi’s engineers three patents for the unique and innovative housing, has truly improved the work environment for HP users. In fact, the enclosure has thrived in the marketplace as an industry-leader since its introduction several years ago − unusual for any computer hardware and a tribute to its user-focused design.
By easily fitting in normal workspaces, the enclosures coexist peacefully with their users. And tool-free accessibility and pop-out components make routine service and maintenance for users as easy as replacing a light bulb. In addition, the chassis offers users scalability by accommodating dual processor motherboards, as well as the resulting heat. And all this comes at a price buyers find attractive.
